Temples of Sound
Michael took half of this book’s manuscript with him on a plane ride to Tulsa, thinking it would entertain him for the whole trip. When he landed in Tulsa he called us and begged us to send him the second half: It was such a compulsive read for a serious music fan, it was impossible to put down. This extremely well-written book, with excellent photography, is basically the most complete history of American music you’ll find. We especially love the great chapters on Stax and Motown.
